What are Parasites?

Parasites can be divided into many sizes. From small to large we can represent the following parasites; jumping gene, prion, bacteriophage, bacterium, fungus, insect, plant and or animal. Parasitology, microbiology, plant physiology and physiology are the disciplines that deal with parasites. Parasites are viruses or organisms that need a host to survive and multiply. The resulting damage that takes place in the host is not large enough to affect the relationship between the two. If it does, it is called a parasitoid. There are parasites that live inside the host (endoparasite) and parasites that live outside the host’s body (ectoparasite). Parasites distinction in size; micro parasites (viruses) and macroparasites.
